Are you obsessed with creating Costume, always chasing the next project, aspiring to turn your passion into your career?
Have you ever watched a film, a theatre show, a parade, played a computer game, been to an exhibition, looked in a shop window and thought, “Wow, that’s amazing, I would love to do that!”
If the answer is “YES” then read on as we may be able to help you make the dream a reality.
We are a Foundation Degree in Costume for Performance & Film . This is a two year full time course that is equivalent to the first 2 years of a BA (Hons). We are vocationally focused, this means we are highly practical and believe that training should be as the current industry requires, exploring the latest materials and methods.
We actively look for commissions to challenge our students and enable them to showcase their abilities and all students get to work in industry. Recent graduates are currently employed by film companies such as Sands Films, as assistants to established professional costume makers whose credits include Snow White and the Huntsman, Alice Through The Looking Glass, (Tim Burton), Knights of The Round Table…..King Arthur and Beauty and The Beast. TV credits range from Fungus and The Bogeyman to Take Me Out.
Maybe it is themed, immersive, site specific performance or even music festivals that fire your imagination. Our students have assisted on commissions for Latitude, Secret Cinema the Cultural Olympiad to name a few.
If it’s more traditional theatre that inspires you, the diversity of our placements is immense, from work on west end shows such as Lion King, Phantom of The Opera and Sinatra, through Opera, Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne to dance, English National Ballet, and top end Contemporary Companies, New Movement Collective. We have strong links with internationally acclaimed Chichester Festival Theatre, close to our Campus.
The commercial sector is a growing area of employment, The Body Shop, just down the road from us commissions us to do major events on an ongoing basis.
